Fort Snelling STEM Program for Kids | LOW COST | RSVP REQUIRED

The Fort Kids STEM-focused program engages children’s curiosity about science, technology, engineering, and math through exploration of the historic fort. Through hands-on activities, exploration of places and concepts, and use of their imaginations, kids will discover that there is more to history than meets the eye. They provide group leaders with the educational packet to lead their group around the historic fort, as well as questions that will encourage critical thinking skills. After participating in the STEM-focused program, groups are invited to stay and experience regular daily activities at the fort. 

For students ages 5-12 | $6 per student 



Kids Fishing Clinic | FREE

Join the CR Kiwani’s and B4K volunteers at the annual Kids Fishing Clinic. All participants and chaperones will receive a free hot dog and chip lunch. Kids will also receive a goody bag of fishing gear. All equipment is provided. Come learn how to tie a line, cast, identify various fish, and water safety.

The 11th Annual Blaine World Fest has continued to grow with more than 2000 people enjoying this exciting and festive cultural celebration last year, and this year's event promises to be even bigger and better. Be sure to bring a lawn chair!

Henna Workshop | FREE

Learn the basics of henna in a hands-on workshop led by artist Amy Leinen. Discover the history and science of henna through paste-making and cone-rolling demonstrations. Then, using tips and tricks, apply henna yourself. Materials provided. Funded by Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.



MayDay Parade and Festival | FREE

The MayDay Festival follows the MayDay Parade and features music, dancing, poetry, foods, canoe rides, and more! Celebration of Spring in the twin cities for 44 years. While the event is free, donations are welcomed.

Feel free to support local artists by purchasing artwork at vendor's tents.

 Help plant new trees in the park, and watch as the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture hosts the annual Minnesota Tree Climbing Championships. There will be an appearance by Burly Oak, tree planting, tree climbing, tree arts and crafts, and you can even adopt a tree seedling!

Memorial Day Weekend at Fort Snelling | LOW COST

Over Memorial Day Weekend, explore the grounds and engage with the many stories that make up this location's history.

Join in activities and watch demonstrations like cannon firings, blacksmithing, and more. Kids can try out historic games as well as a brand-new, STEM-focused activity to earn a special prize.

Festival of the Nations | LOW COST

In 2018, the Festival will continue its legacy as the longest running multicultural festival in the Midwest and, once again, collaborate with nearly 100 ethnic groups to create a truly unique experience-- one that celebrates cultural heritage and provides our community’s immigrants with a platform to express their stories through world-class performances, exhibits, ethnic cuisine, and personal connections.

Cost: $8.00-$13.50

What’s Up 612! is an online program finder where youth, parents, educators, youth workers and persons who know young people can find afterschool and summer activities in Minneapolis for children and young adults ages 5-21.
